Every startup begins with a moment of frustration strong enough to push someone from complaining… to building. For Voixana founder Paul, that moment showed up on his business phone — repeatedly, loudly, and usually right in the middle of something important.

The kind of spam where the phone rings, you rush to answer, and you’re greeted by either an automated robovoice or someone aggressively selling business utilities you never asked for.

The Problem That Kept Calling… and Calling

Like many European business owners, Paul did everything by the book. He registered his numbers with national Do Not Call lists. He followed the regulatory steps. He even reported multiple spam numbers to the authorities.

None of it helped. Data backs up the experience: spam calls have remained a chronic problem in Europe despite regulatory efforts.

This wasn’t just a nuisance.
It was a daily productivity drain and it needed to stop.

After one too many moments ruined by pointless calls, Paul asked himself a question that would eventually become the foundation for Voixana:

“Would it not be nice if someone took the calls, screened out the spam, helped potential leads, and only bothered me when it actually mattered?”

It wasn’t meant to be a company idea at first — just a solution he wished existed.

But then the concept started forming:

  • An assistant that always answers.
  • One that determines if the call is legitimate or junk.
  • One that can answer questions about the business.
  • One that can guide potential leads and take messages.

And most importantly:
One that frees the business owner from losing hours of time to worthless calls.

The First Prototype: Helpful… but Not Enough

With that idea in mind, Paul built the earliest version of what would become Voixana.

This first version was an AI agent that could take calls periodically, functioning as a part-time digital receptionist. It worked when the calls were manually forwarded. But it lacked some flexibility.

We wanted to be in control when we could recieve calls. When you are driving, you might want to take a call. But if you are in an important meeting or if you are on your knees fixing a problem for a client, then you don’t want distractions. Nevertheless switching your phone off would cause you to potentially lose business, as you are perceived as not reachable.

That’s when the second breakthrough hit:

The solution needed to be mobile. The call support needed to be instant. It needed to be in the palm of your hand.

Business owners should be able to control how their calls are handled with one tap — and forward calls to the AI receptionist whenever they need peace, productivity, or simply a moment to breathe.

Our app might one day like this, it is always good to dream 🙂

The Voixana App: Turning an Idea Into a Usable Reality

The next evolution was the development of the Voixana app — designed to give business owners a clean, central place to manage incoming calls.

The concept was simple:

  1. See all calls in one place.
  2. Forward calls to the AI receptionist with a single button.
  3. Let the voice agent screen spam, handle real inquiries, and take messages.
  4. Remove the constant interruption that keeps owners from doing real work.

It was a practical solution to a real problem that affects millions of small and medium businesses — especially those without the staff, budget, or time to run a full customer service department. With rising call volumes, it is easy to get more calls, but get less business.

Today, Voixana stands as a solution that many small businesses didn’t realize they desperately needed:
a smart, reliable AI receptionist that filters spam, helps real callers, and keeps business owners focused on what they actually want to be doing.

Because no one starts a company just to answer spam calls.
